Multi-Component Metal/Plastic to LSR
Integrated assemblies are possible through direct-bonding without the need of primers. Because material is directly overmolded on metal with a Two Shot (LSR/Thermoplastics) process onto plastic or metal, displacements are eliminated. By employing Two Shot (LSR/Thermoplastics) technology, assembly and quality assurance costs are reduced or outright eliminated.
Harness Components
From ring seals, single-wire seals and housing seals to individual inner grommets, these parts are vital for proper functioning of any vehicle. Nowadays by employing Two Shot (LSR/Thermoplastics) technology, the housing, grommet and ring seal can be manufactured in the same injection unit thereby benefiting from high-precision and low assembly costs
Self-Lubricating Components
Self-lubricating material is ideal for grommets, single wire seals and many other seals and gaskets where lubricity is needed for ease of assembly. Additional applications include housing seals or part o-rings that require continuous movement in which the self-lubricating capability reduces stick and improves slippage
Custom O-Rings
These specialized, durable O-rings are used in seat heaters for luxury vehicles. For any high-volume, high-precision, odd shape, or for high temperature long life parts, injection molding of Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) is the best suited technology.
Membranes: Anti-Drain Backflow Valves
Even when exposed to oil and many other harsh chemicals, LSR’s mechanical properties remain the same for the lifetime of the part. Pressure actuated components such as back flow valves can be developed in the most accurate ways with uniform thickness distributions and generated as an optimized multi-component design to reduce or eliminate assembly costs and improve function.
Lighted Panel Buttons
Two Shot (LSR/Thermoplastics) technology enables the integration of housing made out of rigid material with soft touch buttons. The result is a component that provides high-transparency for the flow of light signals along with rigidity for assembly with electronic components
Wiring Harness Components
From ring seals, single-wire seals, and housing seals to individual inner grommets, these parts allow for watertight seals with good heat resistance and long term non-detrimental mechanical properties. Such components may be over-molded to provide superior seal characteristics and eliminate assembly time or even made with self-lubricating LSRs to allow for easy assemblies.
Soft-Touch Components
As well as lighted panel buttons, any button or soft-touch component may be accurately designed to feel as smooth as leather or with particular miniature rib patterns to provide massage or fluff sensations. Soft-touch silicone can be molded onto plastic with very strong chemical and mechanical bonds.
Spark Plug Boots
High thermal stability requirements and non-aging characteristics make LSR an ideal candidate for spark plug boots and many other “under-the-hood” applications.
Gaskets
Automotive exterior components are constantly exposed to vast temperature ranges. Due to LSR’s ability to maintain its mechanical properties at such a wide range of temperatures (thermal stability from -50ËšC to 250ËšC), it is ideal for high temperature headlight and/or flexible spotlight gaskets. Its superior elongation, tear resistance, and Ozone and UV resistance are a plus.
Dampers and Noise Reduction Folds
Fitted, overmolded air conditioner flaps will reduce noise during impact of plastic-to-plastic surfaces and provide better contact seals. LSR is a good solution for many impact applications and resonance dampers.
Bellows and Protective Caps
LSR’s extreme temperature resistance makes it ideal for any interior or exterior application. Whether it is a complex shaped component or a simple geometry part, any high-volume part can be manufactured by LSR injection molding.
Seals and Gaskets
It is a good idea to consider LSR for a seal or gasket for many engine or interior components. For high temperature conditions, or when exposure to radiation or heat may lead to aging in many common rubbers, LSR will outperform many of the available materials. With the proper design, a Two Shot (LSR/Thermoplastics) multi-component part may be made reducing or eliminating all assembly costs.
